The road to professional design is definitely paved with late nights, bad eating habits and undercharged [read: free] projects. I had first set out for a glamorous design career, only to be discouraged by several design sweatshops. I hated that I had decided to settle for these brutal, yet necessary, jobs. The first step in the right direction was when I joined the Northeast Pennsylvania chapter of the American Advertising Federation (AAF) in 2011, and have served on the Board of Directors since then. Shortly thereafter in 2012, as they say, opportunity came knocking. I took a chance on a feisty young tech start-up as an independent contractor for overflow work and have never looked back. Currently, I am the Creative Director at Net Driven [that same feisty tech start-up that is now a full-service internet marketing company focused on independent automotive businesses.] I am also an adjunct instructor in the Graphic Design Department at Marywood University in Scranton, PA, where a younger, starry-eyed version of myself received my BFA in Graphic Design back in 2010. In addition to organizing various networking opportunities with the AAF Board of Directors now, I have spoken at several educational events and conferences. I am thrilled to have recently had the opportunity to speak at TEDx Scranton, an independently organized TED conference event. I also enjoy a respectable wine and wedge of cheese every so often [shout out to my ladies from the Wegmans cheese shop days.] If you so happen to be in need of cheese pairing advice AND a design consultation...BONUS.
